Research and Experience
Shih-Wen Sue Chen is a senior lecturer in writing and literature in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin University. Her research examines the movement of texts between cultures and the politics of knowledge dissemination via the written word. It focuses on transnational children’s print culture, particularly between China and “the West.” She is interested in how texts reflect and shape changing concepts of childhood and youth across cultures. She is the author of Children’s Literature and Transnational Knowledge in Modern China: Education, Religion, and Childhood (2019) and Representations of China in British Children’s Fiction, 1851–1911 (2013).
