Research and Experience
Katrina Clifford is a Senior Lecturer in Communication in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin University. She is a specialist in media criminology. Her research focuses on mediated representation and communication, and the effects of evolving technologies on policy, practice and public understandings of crime, justice and law enforcement-related issues. Projects have included explorations of the role of virtual reality in scenario-based police training and within journalistic practices designed to enhance public understandings about the harsher realities of prison life. Prior to academia, Katrina worked as a journalist, magazine editor and freelance strategic communications consultant and corporate writer.
