Launch of Fika Entertainment
Deakin University is proud to announce the launch of Fika Entertainment, a new start-up venture that commercialises the virtual production capability developed by the Deakin MotionLab to revolutionise storytelling by enabling accessible, fast and cost-effective production of real time animation, real time VFX content.
The new Fika Entertainment entity will be led by CEO Kris Maric, a Queensland-based Executive Producer and includes Dr Jordan Beth Vincent, who has been appointed Executive Manager / Head of Sales & Strategy, Peter Divers as Head of VFX, and Deanne Czarnecki as Head of Production. Fika is further supported by a new executive and advisory team including Chief Advisor Con Apostolopoulos (Fox, Nat Geo, Turner), Development & Executive Producer Julie Greene (Hi-5, Disney, Channel 9, Channel 10), Commercial & Strategic Consultant Martin Hersov (Commercial Director Channel 9, ITV), and Executive Producer / Commercial Director Paul Hilton (OZPIX Entertainment, Humphrey B. Bear Entertainment, News Corp, APN Media, Fairfax Media).
Moving forward, Deakin MotionLab will be led by Professor Matthew Delbridge (Director) and Professor Stefan Greuter (Deputy-Director), using design and technology to drive and grow research involving human motion as an essential aspect of communication, expression, and action. Deakin MotionLab will run out of the School of Communication and Creative Arts and partner with Fika in various research and education initiatives.
