Lecturer in Motion Capture

Simeon Taylor brings to the Motion.Lab close to a decade’s worth of experience working in games, film, and television.

After receiving his engineering degree at the University of Western Australia, he promptly moved to the eastern states to pursue a career in the electronic arts. His first professional experience was in games at the now defunct Atari Melbourne House. After that he landed his first film role and moved to Sydney to work on Happy Feet. This was also the start of his experience with motion capture as he worked as a technical assistant in the motion capture department. After seeing that film through to completion, he both freelanced and worked fulltime for Foxtel as a 3D artist before returning to work on Happy Feet’s sequel. He moved back to Melbourne, continuing to freelance as a 3D artist till he found himself working at Deakin’s Motion.Lab.
