Lyn Mcredden

Lyn McCredden is a Deakin University Professor of Literary Studies, specializing in Australian Literature, Poetry, Fiction, Indigenous Studies, Literary Theory, Literature and Religion, and Gender.

Lyn graduated from the University of Melbourne with a B.A Hons (1975, Dux of Pure English), Master of Arts (First Class Honours, 1980). She was awarded the Alexander Sutherland Prize and the Edward Stevens Exhibition in Pure English in second year, and the Dwight’s Prize, Final examination in Pure English, and Shakespeare Scholarship in the final year.

In 1987 she was awarded a PhD from the University of Melbourne, on the poetry of James McAuley, religious belief and deconstruction. This work formed the basis of her first published monograph, James McAuley (OUP, 1992).

Lyn has taught at several Australian Universities (Melbourne, La Trobe, Deakin) and in 2011 was a Visiting Professor at the Freie Universit├Ąt, Berlin.

She is a longstanding member of The Association for the Study of Australian Literature, and was its President in 2004-5.
